Mr. Sukumaran is a post graduate in Economics and Masters in Business Administration. He is a Certificated Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB) and possesses post CAIIB qualifications. His career began as a Probationary Officer in The South Indian Bank Ltd and served in various functional areas in banking. He has been involved deeply in rural finance and microfinance activities while serving in banking industry. Mr. Sukumaran was heading the SIB Staff Training College as Principal and he has switched over to the development sector as microfinance professional by handling few internationally funded capacity building projects. The significant positions Mr. Sukumaran occupied in the microfinance domain are as i) Microfinance Specialist in a Government of Kerala Livelihood Project funded by European Union, ii) Group Head – Capacity Building in Sa-Dhan, the Association of Community Development Finance Institutions, and iii) as Project Manager-Microfinance in CARE India. He was serving as Program Head of India Operations of an international development agency - Financial Services Volunteer Corp (FSVC) before joining The School.
Mr. Sukumaran’s areas of interest are training, consultancy and research. He has organized good number of training programs throughout the country during the last six years. He has supervised various studies in community development finance while managing community development finance projects. He has to his credit good number of publications. At present he is Head, Training at the Indian School of Microfinance for Women.
